ABOUT US

Melton Electric and Structured Cabling has more than 50 years of electrical and structured cabling contracting experience in southeast Texas. We are a second generation, family-owned business founded in 1969. This experience has helped us to become a recognized leader in a competitive service industry because we know that we are only as good as the people we attract, motivate and retain.

CHARLES MELTON
1941-2020

Charles Melton founded Melton Electrical and Structured Cabling in 1969, growing it into one of the most successful electrical and structured cabling contractors in Southeast Texas. His first major client, Gulf Oil, challenged Melton Electric to complete a project that had to be designed and finished within 60 days. Without flinching, it was completed in 45.

During the 70’s and 80’s, the company grew, amassing clients such as Coca Cola Foods, The Greenspoint Complex (1977-87), and the Menil Museum (1987). At the same time, Charles Melton grew his company internally, hiring the team that largely still works with Melton Electric and Structured Cabling today. “We hired people that complimented others that we had here,” Melton said, “They’re all intelligent go-getters and all I did was keep ’em headed in one direction. They were the reason that it succeeded.”

In the 90’s, Melton Electrical & Structured Cabling continued to acquire bigger and better projects such as UTMB Medical Research Building and NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory and also transitioned leadership as Charles passed the torch to his son Mark Melton.  Under his guidance, over the past two decades, Melton has added a number of large-scale projects to its portfolio, such as The Woodlands Towers at The Waterway, NRG Center, Toyota Center, BBVA Stadium, ExxonMobil Corporate Campus and Phillips 66 Corporate Headquarters
